Minioren weer de beste van de provincie!
1-2-3 op rij…….onze minioren mochten weer de kampioensbeker mee naar huis nemen. Wat een team!
Door onze groeiende groep enthousiaste minioren konden we begin februari met 2 volledige teams met 16 zwemmers meedoen aan de Provinciale Club Meet. Vanwege het grote aantal zwemclubs in onze provincie werd deze teamwedstrijd op zaterdag en zondag gezwommen.
Halverwege de wedstrijd op zondag werd de tussenstand omgeroepen: Blue Marlins, gedeelde 3e plaats. Op dat moment niet wetende dat alleen nog de resultaten van de eerste drie programma’s waren verwerkt. Nog 11 programma’s te gaan. Onze zwemmers persten hun beste prestaties uit hun zwemlijfjes. Dat leidde tot mooie persoonlijke records en ook een paar onfortuinlijke diskwalificaties.
Aan het einde van de wedstrijd hadden we goede hoop op een plekje op het ereschavot. Maar welke? Terwijl het Secretariaat de laatste uitslagen verwerkte, steeg de spanning bij zwemmers, coaches, ploegleiders en ouders. Toen de nummer 2 bekend werd gemaakt, ontstond er luid gejuich in ’t zwembad en op de tribune. Gewonnen! En als wij winnen, dan doen we dat met z’n allen. Dus hup, beide teams op het hoogste podium en daarna natuurlijk allemaal het water in.
Een paar dagen na de wedstrijden hoorden we dat we met 74 punten verschil van het winnende team op zaterdag hadden gewonnen. Blue Marlins Minioren weer de beste van de provincie!

1-2-3 in a row…….our minors took the championship cup home again. What a team!
Due to our growing group of enthusiastic minors, we were able to compete in the Provincial Club Meet early February with 2 full teams with 16 swimmers. Due to the large number of swimming clubs in our province, this team competition was swum on Saturday and Sunday.
Halfway through the competition on Sunday, the rankings were announced: Blue Marlins, shared 3rd place. Not knowing at that moment that only the results of the first three programmes had been processed. Still 11 programmes to go. Our swimmers squeezed their best performance out of their swimming bodies which led to beautiful personal records and also a few unfortunate disqualifications.
At the end of the competition, we had high hopes for a place on the podium of honour. But which one? While the Secretariat processed the final results, tension rose among swimmers, coaches, team leaders and parents. When the number 2 was announced, there were loud cheers in the pool and in the stands. We won! When we win, we win all together. So, both teams jumped on the highest podium and then, of course, all into the water.
A few days after the competitions, we heard that we had won by 74 points difference from the winning team on Saturday. Blue Marlins Minors again the best in the province!
